No, I am not promoting eating disorders. I promised Tyger during DEFCON 17 that if she were to model my motion sickness hat/glasses, I would make her a “I throw up for science” shirt. And then afterward I got busy (read as: forgot). So, what better second project for this thing during the two week “DIY Clothes/Accessories” theme?
Materials:
Shirt ($3 at Michael’s or JoAnn Fabrics)
Sewing hoop (varies depending on size)
Panty hose
Fabric marker in color of your choosing
An image that is simple to trace
Start off by cutting the top and toes part of the pantyhose and stretching it across the hoop (easier said than done unless you get big honking pantyhose).
Lay the hoop so that the hose is touching the image and trace with a permanent marker.
Mine looked like this when I finished tracing (the foot is in the upper corner because I couldn’t get it to fit inside the hoop the way it was.
Lay the hoop on top of the shirt where you want your image to be (this is the time to get out that fabric marker).
Start tracing. I found that it’s easiest if you just draw little dots first. Once you’re done with the dots, connect them. You should be finished unless you want to get all fancy and embellish it. It takes a little while for the marker to dry, so be careful. Don’t wash it for at least 48 hours.
